Just returned from our Spring holiday trip to the Southwest. One of the unexpected highlights for me was the Butterfly Wonderland. There were amazingly beautiful specimens displayed on the walls. Then there was a 3-D movie about the Monarch’s migration, which was totally fascinating and so beautiful it made me cry. There was a chrysalis display–the Emergence Gallery–with hundreds of cocoons and chrysalises (cocoon=moth, chrysalis= butterfly) each in a different stage of development. And finally, a butterfly conservatory, full of free-flying butterflies. They are so quiet, and so brilliantly colored. Breathtaking.
